2 cups unsweetened almond milk or water
1 Tablespoon (T) almond butter or other nut butter 1/4 cup blueberries 1/3 cup black seedless grapes 1 banana 2 cups baby spinach and/or kale greens This is long over due people, I know!!! Sorry, I've been busy parenting my 2 very active baby boys!!! This "berry" beautiful smoothie consists of the following: Makes 1 serving: 1c wild frozen blueberries 1.5c water .5c organic unfiltered apple juice 2-3 large handfuls of baby spinach or 2-3 kale leaves. 1 sliver of lemon Today's smoothie is all about this delicious and fragrant weed... MINT! It's just so beautiful, isn't it!? Makes 1 or 2 servings: 1.5 cups water .5 cup organic unfiltered apple juice slice lemon 1/2 cup or about 10 leaves of fresh basil 1/4 cup parsley (I used flat leaf italian because that is what we have growing right now... curly parsley is also very flavorful) 1/2 cup mint leaves - fresh from the garden! 1 green apple (skin removed because it was not organic) 1 cup green grapes 2 or 3 cups spinach 2 or 3 cups kale Smoothie and then a espresso... that is my daily regimen! Thanks to my hubby for the new mug, I have room for multiple shots of espresso :) This is BY FAR my favorite smoothie, my husband and kids also love it! What's not to love about peanut butter, banana and chocolate?!
Makes about 30oz 2c vanilla almond milk** (if using water, add in a dash of vanilla extract!) 2 heaping tablespoons of peanut or other nut butter 1 heaping tablespoon of raw cacao nibs 2 large handfuls of baby spinach 2 dandelion green leaves 2 large tuscan kale leaves **I do try to avoid using store bought almond milk because it is processed and has 'iffy' ingredients in it, but once in a while is ok. Anything in moderation, right!? Just keep eating (or drinking) your greens and it will help purify your system of any 'iffy' free radicals. This type of smoothie is always my GO TO for when I'm feeling bloated, nasty, sluggish and just need a good "detox"!!! The lemon and ginger are great detoxifiers. Just look at the pics and how gorgeous all of the GREEN colors are! Nothing but goodness :) Makes 1 or 2 servings:
1 or 2c water 1 big handful of curly parsley 1 big handful of fresh baby spinach 1 big handful of frozen spinach (I used this because I ran out of baby spinach) 2 celery stalks 1 green apple slice of lemon nub of fresh ginger (I store this peeled and in the freezer, so I simply cut off pieces whenever I'm ready to use it) 1 ripe kiwi (ripe when soft) 1 banana OR stevia to taste (optional for extra sweetness) The picture is pretty but this smoothie was not so good! Haha. I definitely think it could be better if I added a few less of some and more of other ingredients. So, here is just a base recipe for you to take away today, but know that it's not good as listed below! I will fool around with these ingredients another time to try to make it better. In the mean time, here you go!
Makes 1 serving: 1c raw yam 4T coconut flakes 1c water 1 vanilla stevia packet 1/2 banana 1c frozen spinach. Makes 1 serving or 20oz 1 or 2c Vanilla almond milk 1c or 1 handfull frozen organic spinach 2 large romaine lettuce leaves 2 or 3 Tbsp unsweetened coconuts flakes Optional: stevia to sweeten to taste or 1 ripe banana. Tips: I didn't have fresh spinach so I used my reserve frozen spinach in a bag. Also, I didn't have a ripe banana but I bet if I used that I wouldn't have to use stevia. Makes 30oz 1-2c water 1c pineapple 1/2c frozen green grapes (I froze them after buying fresh to preserve them!) 1 thin slice lemon (like you would add to a lemon water) 2c beet greens (I bought a bunch of golden beets to roast and saved the greens for my smoothies!) 2c spinach (whole leaf or baby spinach is fine) TIP: I'm on a more tighter budget than I have ever been due to having 2 kids in full time day care, so instead of buying packaged pre washed baby spinach, I'm opting for the bulk whole leaf spinach for less than 1/2 the price! Sure, it's a tad more time consuming to wash, dry, store vs pre packaged kind, but I gotta do what I gotta do to get my greens in!! Also, at Whole Foods, they sell loose beets (without the greens), and instead I opt for the bunch beets with their greens still attached, all so I can add them to my smoothies!
Cheers =) ~Mary Makes 40oz or 5 cups 2-3c water 1/2c beets (mine were pre-roasted, but you can also use raw) 1T coconut oil 1T apple cider vinegar 2-3 celery stalks slice of lemon 1/2 avocado 1 ripe green pear 1/2c frozen mixed berries 2c spinach 2 large romaine leaves 1/2c pineapple Stevia to taste This smoothie is super detoxifying! From the beets to the coconut oil to every single ingredient in this thing (aside from the stevia), but you get what I'm saying!
By consuming beets you can reap the benefits of essential antioxidants as well as reducing inflammation within your body... They also help your body to, literally, excrete toxins! Coconut oil increases your metabolism. Berries contain tons of antioxidants, again, to help rid your body of free radicals and/or toxins... Just one cup a day to reap the benefits! Spinach and Romaine ... they are GREENS!! Need I say more?! Lemon helps cleans the liver! Get cleansing! ~Mary |
